Treat with rigor

The A.T.I.R, Association for the Treatment of Renal Insufficiency, is an organization dedicated to providing high-quality health services in Martinique. Our mission is to provide dialysis care and other specialized health services with a strong commitment to the safety and well-being of our patients.

Our History

A human and medical adventure serving patients with kidney failure in Martinique.

1978
1978

Creation of the first hemodialysis center in Martinique

A hemodialysis center was created at the Lamentin hospital (town). The first hemodialysis session was carried out on October 31, 1978 by Doctors RANLIN, ODRY and SADREUX assisted by Mr. René LINZEAU, nurse, and Mesdames Josiane YOYOTTE and Liliane RENE, nurses. This center was attached to the medical department of the hospital, directed by Dr. RANLIN.

1980
1980

Foundation of the A.T.I.R and development of autodialysis units

the three founders of Nephrology created an association for the home care of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis: A.T.I.R. Two autodialysis units, considered at the time as substitutes for the home, were installed, one at the Lamentin hospital and the other at the Sainte-Marie clinic.
Subsequently, premises in the former Clarac Hospital in Fort-de-France were made available to the association. The ATIR installed its autodialysis units, a medical secretariat and consultation offices for hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients there.

2002

Official recognition as a health establishment

The ATIR becomes a full-fledged health establishment whose activity is subject to authorization, following the publication of decrees 2002-1197 and 2002-1198 of September 23, 2002. These texts mark a decisive turning point in the management of renal failure and the organization of establishments dedicated to extra-renal purification.
